Studio Vint specialises in the architectural design of bespoke new build houses, extensions and renovations.  The studio was first established as Vint & Smith in the UK in 2013, with a lasting legacy of projects throughout UK.
Now based in Turramurra NSW, Studio Vint has applied that international experience to a wide range of projects in Australia.

Tavia Vint

Tavia obtained a Bachelor of Interior Architecture from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia in 2000, where she graduated with Honours and received the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Design.

Following graduation Tavia’s early experience began in Sydney, working on exclusive luxury waterfront homes for Heather Buttrose Associates.  Moving to London in 2004, Tavia continued her career in residential design at the award winning architecture practice Quad Architects, where she worked with a team of architects to produce high-end contemporary apartments.  Following this, Tavia joined Capital City Developments as Lead Designer for a highly prestigious new build single house in Chelsea of 12,400 sq.ft. 

Since forming VINT & SMITH in 2013, Tavia has worked in collaboration with private clients and developers. She has continued her passion for residential architecture, and is committed to designing high quality homes that are specific to her Client’s lifestyles.  

Richard Vint

Richard studied undergraduate architecture at Nottingham University (BArch Hons), before completing a postgraduate programme at The Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL (MArch.)  

He was employed for 4 years at Seth Stein Architects working on high-end private residences in London, Australia and The Carribbean.  He was an integral part of the team for The Beach House in The Turks & Caicos Islands which won BD Single Dwelling Architect of the Year Award 2007. Richard also worked on the restoration of the courtyard stables at Harewood House to create a visitor centre (grade I listed) & an equestrian centre located on the Mornington Peninsula, Australia.

Richard moved to Sydney in 2010 and joined TW Architects, undertaking a number of private houses and extension projects.  On his return to the UK, he worked at Lees Munday Architects where he was project leader designing & detailing exclusive houses in South East England. 

In 2017 Richard self built a contemporary family home, project managing the build and undertaking much of the carpentry & finishing work.  Following this, he joined Tavia at Vint & Smith to pursue his passion for crafting one off houses & extensions.
